Brands Hatch Apr 2018

16th April 2018

J&S Accessories Sponsored BSB Riders

Dan from our Leeds store has written so eloquently on the BSB results it'd be rude not to give him a guest blog of this own so for race results from now on Dan will be updating you all!

"So first up the qualifying results for Bennetts British Superbike Championship (Saturday 14th) a mixed day for our sponsored riders, Gino Rea finished 19th with a time of 45.923 seconds which saw him exit just after Q1 our other rider in the superbike class Luke Mossey Racing did a time of 45.422 seconds and finished 13th overall just missing out on going forward to Q3. The pole time was 44.997 and the last qualifier had a time of 46.979. The field is so tight it's untrue, 1st to 24th place is covered by 1.982 seconds!!! Tomorrow will be a close race that's for sure.

In the superstock 1000 series Billy Mcconnell qualified 1st and put his Suzuki on pole, in the race he managed to finish on the podium in 3rd place. Joe Collier qualified in 10th place on the 4th row, and gained 5 places throughout the race to bring his Aprilia home in 5th. Meanwhile Andy Reid Racing stuck his Aprilia on the outside of the front row in 3rd place, and in the race brought his EHA Racing machine home in 1st place for the win. He also posted the fastest lap of the race with a lap of 46.298. Great work by our riders who so far have been on the podium at least once in the first few races of the season!!!

Supersport 600 and all our riders performed brilliantly, Jamie Perrin qualified in 4th and in the race came home in a amazing 3rd place for his first podium finish of the season.

Joe Francis qualified 5th and scored another points finish by coming home in 4th, Ross Twyman started from 6th and came home 6th scoring more championship points. David Allingham started from 13th on the grid and came home inside the top 10 finishing in 8th place, our last supported rider in this class Harry Truelove had a tough day on the MV Agusta bike unfortunately coming home in 24th place. Here's hoping his luck changes in the second race tomorrow.  Last but not least Taylor Moreton came home 6th in his class of Motostar Championship. A great outing for the young man in the first race of his season."

Sunday 14th:

"Last day of action at Brands Hatch today. Mixed weather all day for the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. Indifferent results for the J&S backed riders in the superbike category. Two finishes just outside the points for Gino Rea but it's still early days in the championship, plus the OMG Racing UK is a brand new team lets not forget that. Luke Mossey Racing had a 15th in race one and 13th place in race two. Probably not the result both of the riders wanted but they move on to the next round hoping for better luck.

In supersport 600 the race was stopped halfway through due to rain, meaning we had a 2 part race with the latter part being a 12 lap dash to the flag.

Jamie Perrin had a eventful race, having been deemed to have jump the start, he was given a ride through penalty, he still managed to salvage a points finish by coming home in 13th place. David Allingham came home in 11th place and more championship points. Ross Twyman just missed out on another podium finish coming home in 4th place. Unfortunately Joe Francis Racing and Harry Truelove failed to finish the second race but lets hope the boys and their teams can work through the problems they encountered today.

In the Superstock 1000 class we had more podiums and another race win.

Billy McConnell won his 3rd race of the season, which leaves him leading the championship with 82 points, hot on his heels is Andy Reid Racing who came home in a solid 3rd place, he keeps up his record of finishing on the podium in each race he has finished, and is only 16 points behind Billy. Joe Collier Racing brought his EHA Racing machine home in 4th place.

Next stop is our home round, well when I say home round I mean J&S home round at Oulton Park in Cheshire, as it is where our head office at J&S Northwich is based. It's May bank holiday that weekend so fingers crossed for better weather than the Easter bank holiday as we had rain, sleet and snow!!"

Until next time, stay safe
