Shark Helmets began in Marseille, South of France in 1986.
Two brothers, Robert and Andre Teston, who were both professional racers, used their experience and understanding of what riders need from the sharp end on the race track to produce helmets that exceeded safety standards.
Investing heavily in Research and Development the brothers introduced their "Design for a function" motto; a key principle that every single component is there to purely to provide you with a safer, more comfortable motorcycle helmet.
Their aim is to make every Shark Helmet a part of you, giving you the rider, in their own gallic phrasing "the sheer pleasure and freedom of riding in complete safety".
The companies racing heritage has continued with Shark sponsoring racers all over the world; riders such as; Ricky Cardus, Troy Corser, Cyril Despres, Pol Espargaro, Carl Fogarty, Olivier Jacque, Iker Lecuona, Jorge Lorenzo, Sam Lowes, Tom Luthi, Miguel Oliveira, Olivier Panis, Randy de Puniet, Scott Reading, Raymond Roche and Johann Zarco; collecting over 60 world championships on the way.

All Shark Helmets are designed in their HQ in the South of France, creating new helmets using the latest technology available, from 3D printers, to fluid dynamic and aerodynamic drag coefficient analysis to reduce buffeting and make the helmets as quiet as possible for the rider.
Shark's ethos has always been to innovate and push the boundaries of what is possible, as their history of innovative helmets has shown.
In 1991 they were the first to industrially manufactured a helmet completely from carbon fibre, the Shark XRC Carbon and in the late 2000's created the Shark EvoLine, the first flip-front helmet with dual homologation, meaning that it could legally be worn in both open and closed positions.
Shark's in-house Research and Development lab are continually testing and retesting; developing breakthrough technical innovations in both performance and user protection, on average filing 5 new patents every year.
