Explicitly designed for off-roading, the Alpinestars Tech-Air MX is a cutting-edge Airbag System engineered exclusively for motocross and supercross. Developed from Alpinestars’ decades of experience in MotoGP and Dakar Rally, and refined through extensive MX and Supercross rider data, the Tech-Air MX ensures precise, fast, and reliable protection in the sport’s most demanding conditions. Compact, autonomous, and integrated into a lightweight chest protector, the Tech-Air MX delivers advanced upper body protection while allowing total freedom of movement. With four selectable Riding Modes optimised for different off-road disciplines, riders experience unmatched safety and versatility on every track. It features a default MX Mode plus two customisable “MY RIDE” modes (MX RACE, ENDURO, RALLY) configurable via the Tech-Air App or LED Display, with a crash detection algorithm - refined from thousands of hours of MX and Supercross data to ensure precise Airbag deployment. It gives inflation in approximately 40ms for instant impact absorption. It is wearable over or under MX gear; a single gas inflator enables a single deployment, and it is easily replaceable where permitted. It offers up to 30 hours on a full charge; a 1-hour quick charge provides 8 hours of use. It is fast to activate with automatic power-on when the left buckle is fastened; it deactivates when unfastened. It uses Bluetooth connectivity that enables system monitoring, riding mode management, and firmware updates via the Tech-Air App. It has an integrated LED display that shows battery level, system status, and Riding Modes, and it includes a USB-C charging port. The vest itself boasts an Alpinestars Nucleon PLASMA Back Protector that is ultra-light, CE Level 1 certified, with honeycomb ventilation for superior airflow and comfort. It features a breathable stretch-mesh vest with a low-profile, ergonomic construction for mobility and fit. No external sensors are required - it is fully self-contained. The housing system for the airbag is entirely internal, but the airbag and ECU are removable to allow easy cleaning and maintenance. It offers all-weather reliability and operates between -10°C and +50°C; the ECU is seal-protected. ECE R10 04 Homologation guarantees electromagnetic stability and performance integrity. All firmware updates are easily accessible via the Alpinestars Tech-Air App to install new crash-detection algorithms. It protects the shoulders, chest, and back and provides over four times the protection of passive armour when deployed. It is a CE-Certified Airbag: Category II, compliant with EN1621-4:2013 standards; full inflation within 40ms to 5s after detection. It is certified for up to six deployments if undamaged. It also offers CE Level 1 passive armour, with integrated chest and back protection and adjustable straps for a precise fit. Three accelerometers and three gyroscopes in the ECU ensure accurate detection across dynamic MX conditions.
