Introduction
The S-R7 is Alpinestars’ new road and track helmet for 2026. It sits just below the S-M10 flagship, and it gets most of the S-M10’s technology for a lot less money.
You get a carbon, aramid and fibreglass shell, a multi-density EPS liner with Alpinestars’ slip-plane coating, the A-Head fit system and A-Connect Bluetooth prep. It’s ECE 22.06 and DOT approved, and a medium weighs 1,390g, which is very respectable for a lid at this level.
At J&S we've got it in multiple colourways: All are up for sale right now.

The safety tech, explained
Does the S-R7 go beyond ECE 22.06?
Yes, and by a long way. Alpinestars’ patented low-friction slip-plane coating beats the ECE 22.06 limit for peak rotational acceleration by 80%. In an angled impact, the shell can slide a little against your head instead of twisting it, and that twisting is what causes a lot of brain injuries. The coating comes as standard on every colourway, so you don’t have to pay extra for it.
What’s the shell made of?
It’s a blend of carbon fibre, aramid (the same family of fibres as Kevlar) and fibreglass, bonded with pre-impregnated epoxy resin. Mixing the materials lets the shell spread the force of an impact across its surface instead of focusing it in one spot.
What’s going on inside?
The EPS liner comes in seven pieces at six different densities, each one matched to the part of your head it protects. On top of that, PLASMA inserts add extra shock absorption where it matters most.
Fit, features and frequently asked questions
How much does the Alpinestars S-R7 weigh?
A medium comes in at 1,390g (3.06lb). That’s competitive for a sports helmet with this much safety kit.
What sizes does the Alpinestars S-R7 come in?
It comes in S (55–56cm), M (57–58cm), L (59–60cm) and XL (61–62cm). To measure, wrap a soft tape round the widest part of your head, about a finger’s width above your eyebrows. Even better, pop in and try one on. We’re always happy to help you get the fit right.
What is the A-Head fitment system?
It’s an adjustable cradle inside the helmet that lets you fine-tune both the height and the angle the lid sits at on your head. Give it five minutes the first time you set it up. It makes a real difference to comfort on a long ride.
Is the Alpinestars S-R7 intercom-ready?
Yes. The S-R7 is ready for Alpinestars’ own A-Connect system and already has recesses for the speakers and mic. Other intercoms will fit too, but A-Connect gives you the neatest install.
Is the Alpinestars S-R7 suitable for track days?
It’s built for both road and track. You get an aero spoiler with side winglets for stability at speed, ERS emergency-release cheek pads so marshals can remove the helmet safely, and a channel for a hydration tube. It comes with an ACU Gold sticker ready for track days.
Does it come with a Pinlock lens?
It does. In the box you get a clear visor, a Pinlock 120 MaxVision anti-fog insert, a breath deflector, a chin curtain and a soft bag. Other than an intercom, there’s nothing extra to buy.
