Zero Motorcycles at J&S!

Zero Motorcycles recently went on a mini-tour of J&S Accessories stores - namely our Hamilton , Aberdeen and Newcastle stores. The "Experience Electric" tour was a covid-safe opportunity to test ride Zero Motorcycles electric motorcycles with brand new 2021 models on show.

Zero Motorcycles

If you haven't heard of Zero Motorcycles, I would be surprised if you haven't - Zero produces high-performance electric motorcycles that are lightweight, efficient, fast off the line and fun to ride. Each motorcycle is optimised from the ground up to leverage the revolutionary Z-Force® electric powertrain and uses a specially designed rigid, aircraft-grade aluminium frame to minimise weight. Since 2006, when the first prototypes were produced, Zero has invited motorcyclists to go for a ride. But, of course, some things are better experienced than explained - hence the mini-tour - with hopefully more tours to come to the rest of our 30 stores nationwide .

Why go electric?

There are some clear advantages to going electric: no need to visit the petrol station, no oil, no exhaust, etc. In addition, there are a host of benefits experienced by Zero owners regularly that are not as obvious. Behind the design of each cutting edge model is a philosophy of elegant simplicity that keeps the weight of the motorcycle low, virtually eliminates all routine powertrain maintenance and yields stealthy acceleration. The result is an incredibly exhilarating ride and an ownership experience that appreciates mile after mile. In addition, all Zero motorcycles feature a direct drive, maintenance-free powertrain. As an incredibly efficient system, direct drive channels power directly from the motor to the rear wheel via a strong and silent, constant tension belt. Not only does direct drive minimise friction loss by eliminating clutches and gears, but it also helps eliminate the need for routine powertrain maintenance and reduces the weight of the motorcycle. Plus, these are the 15 things you would never have to do again:

1) Buy petrol

2) Replace the clutch

3) Sync throttle and idle speed

4) Change an oil filter

5) Lubricate choke cables

6) Change engine oil

7) Check engine oil

8) Adjust valve clearance

9) Change the air filter

10) Replace timing belt

11) Check external fuel hoses

12) Replace spark plugs

13) Change fuel filter

14) Adjust clutch cables

15) Check clutch fluid level

Not to mention the superior sense of smugness you'd have from the environmental benefits too!

J&S Accessories Newcastle

First on their whistle-stop tour of our northern-most stores was J&S Accessories Newcastle .

The Zero motorcycles visit coincided with glorious sunshine and a flurry of interested spectators who came along for a good look - and a ride! Our Newcastle store is based on an industrial estate with allocated parking, so it was the perfect site for displaying electric motorcycles!

J&S Accessories Hamilton

Off over the border up to Hamilton in Scotland. J&S Accessories Hamilton was our first store in Scotland and has been extensively expanded in recent years, making this a superstore! Unusually the sun was shining yet again - it must be the Zero motorcycle factor! Yet again, the Zero motorcycles display proved to be popular with plenty of uptake for test rides.

J&S Accessories Aberdeen

Even further (and some!) into Scotland is our Aberdeen store . Again, and even more unusually, we were blessed with glorious sunshine for the Experience Electric display. Zero carried on their tour to Saltire motorcycles to expose more of Scotland to their revolutionary brand.

Thank you to Zero Motorcycles for coming to our stores, and if you're interested in coming to a Zero Motorcycles event soon, then keep an eye out on our social media, as well as the Zero Motorcycle's social media, for details of any future tours - or book a test ride now ! For more information, visit their website now.

Until next time, stay safe,

Alex
