Goodbye Ilford...Hello Leyton

Hello and welcome to Alex's Blog,

It's been a long time coming and it's been a hard slog, but our Ilford store is now closed and we have moved to our brand new and MUCH bigger location in Leyton!

The move was down to reasons beyond our control so once we found out the news that we had to leave our Ilford store the search was on for a site to replace it. Easier said than done. We tried to stay in Ilford, but this was impossible - we widened the search net (only slightly) and found a site 3.8 miles away in Leyton that was much bigger so took on the task of preparing it, ready for the big move.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and with this in mind here are (nearly) a thousand pictures to show the progress of the new Leyton store. Eat your heart out DIY SOS!

A lot of hard work went in to getting the shop ready, as you can see, new carpets, new fixtures, new helmet stands, new counter, new attitude! - Now all that was missing was stock!

We tried to cause as little disturbance to our customers as possible by only closing for one day.....and what a day that was! The monumental task of moving ALL the shop stock over to Leyton, although it is only 3.8 miles away, meant for a very long day.

It was all hands to the mill with extra staff from our warehouse in Finedon and from our HQ in Cheshire. Not only did everyone manage to get the stock transferred from our old shop to Leyton, but the new shop is quite a lot bigger than our old shop so extra stock was needed.

Everything had to be sorted and displayed in the relevant section and the countdown was on for 9am the next day when our new store was open for business!

It wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but we had our very first customer early doors:

We still have a little work to do with more brands coming to give us more point of sale and posters etc. but we have now been trading for a few days from our new site and it is going really well.
