The Freecom One Plus motorcycle helmet communication system looks good, but is it any good?

Safety

A communication system is a strange item to look at the safety aspects of. Obviously, this is an item being sold for motorcycle riders - hence why in product reviews I normally look at the safety of the item. There are no safety features per se in this system - but the fact that you can communicate with your passenger/other riders does give some safety benefits. It is incredibly simple to use and you can operate the Freecom Plus 1 via voice control - no need to take your hands off the handlebars! Very safe!

Styling

The Scala Rider Freecom 1+ communication system has a slimline and sleek aerodynamic design measuring only 16mm from top to bottom. It clips subtly to the side of your helmet and the paired down design doesn't detract from the aesthetics of your motorcycle helmet.

Comfort

The extremely compact design makes this comfortable to wear - you hardly notice it. The slimline speakers - while powerful - are small enough to be so comfortable you won't even notice them. In fact, the only thing you'll notice is how good they are! The volume automatically adjusts with ambient noise to make your journey more comfortable. In fact, knowing you can easily stay in contact at all times should make all journeys more comfortable!

Practicality

With the Freecom 1+, you can connect to any Bluetooth headset of any substantial brand. You can also stream all the music you want from your smartphone and control, share or just listen to your favourite tune whilst out on the road. A thin 40mm speaker and an advanced processor give a great sound from a small area! The Freecom 1+ also allows you to answer calls, make calls and control your mobile device either with the touch of a finger or via voice control. The built-in FM radio with RDS for automatic selection of the strongest signal means you don't miss out! It automatically adjusts sound volume based on the outside ambient noise.

You can share your playlist or favourite radio station with your passenger and get full control through one simple and intuitive app, the Cardo Connect app. The Freecom 1+ also charges while you ride. Just plug your unit to a battery pack or your 12V charger and turn your unit on. The two-way intercom keeps you connected at all times and is very simple to set up and to use. You can also merge any incoming phone call into the intercom conversation. Included in the Freecom 1+ intercom, Freecom audio kit, hybrid microphone, glue plate, rectangular Velcro pads, speaker relocators, square Velcro pads and USB cable. This is highly versatile.

Negatives

In all honesty, I cannot think of a single negative - one could be this doesn't give you an excuse to ignore your calls when out on the bike!

Verdict

An outstanding communication system. Easy to use, simple to install, with an incredible amount of features. It makes your life easier and more enjoyable while out on the bike!
