Dainese Ignite Tex Motorcycle Jacket

Safety

Designed to look good off the bike, the Ignite Tex doesn’t compromise on protection for on the bike. It features removable CE Pro-Armor protectors at the elbows and shoulders, along with pockets for chest and back protectors (sold separately). It is made from highly durable fabric for superior abrasion resistance. A reflective band rolls up the hood when not in use – both maximising your visibility and minimising the hood getting in your way. Premium YKK vision zip provides a secure closure. The Dainese Ignite Tex jacket is a CE prEN 17092 certified motorbike protective jacket.

Styling

This doubles as a casual zip-up hoodie very easily. The general aesthetic of the Ignite Tex is very much a casual jacket with a fleece-lined hood. Although, as you would expect from Dainese, it is stylish through and through. Even for a casual jacket, it offers Dainese's subtle branding throughout. The black and anthracite colourway is subtle but fashionable and slightly different - and certainly more eye-catching - than a plain black jacket. The anthracite colourway is just on the shoulders, giving a burst of colour without being too much. The toggles at the front not only adjust the collar but also add to the sporty aesthetic.

Comfort

The Ignite Tex jacket is ultra-lightweight despite its protective qualities. The armour is removable and lightweight yet adheres to all CE standards. It is made from a comfortable water repellent fleece with elasticated detailing at the cuffs for freedom of movement and to prevent water ingress. The hood is removable and adjustable for a comfortable fit and fleece-lined for a luxurious (and extremely warm!) feel. The hood is fully removable for versatility, and the lining on this jacket is mesh, offering superior comfort and optimum airflow. The fit of the Ignite Tex isn't too tight. It's a relaxed fit, with plenty of room for movement.

Practicality

The main practicality of the Dainese Ignite tex jacket is that the hood is fully removable, but it is removable with a full zip - so when it's attached, it is fully secure. Rival jackets feature poppers which don't inspire as much confidence. The waist is adjustable for the perfect personalised fit, and the cuffs and collar are also adjustable. The jacket's outer shell is water-resistant so will withstand any showers (ideal for a British Summer!), and the premium YKK zips are ultra-durable for added security. A jacket to trouser connection loop prevents wind ingress and the logos, despite their subtlety, are reflective to maximise visibility at night without compromising on the look of the jacket. Two outer front pockets offer convenient storage.

Negatives

This does not come with a back protector. There is a pocket for one, but not the back protector itself. Yes, this has trouser connection loops but doesn't come with a zip/full zip which some people prefer. The phrase "water-resistant" does instil some fear that it isn't fully waterproof - but the hood and the water-resistant outer will keep you showerproof. If you're looking for a jacket with a fully waterproof membrane then keep on looking! Dainese has plenty to offer (as do other brands all available at J&S! )

Verdict

A great jacket for on and off the bike. Stylish, lightweight, protective and great for casual settings.

Until next time, stay safe,

Alex
