Safety

Constructed from an aerodynamic Advanced Polycarbonate Composite Shell, the C91 is lightweight yet ultra-durable. It is ECER2205 approved for use on roads. It also comes with a 99% UV-A & B protected clear visor that is anti-fog lens prepared along with an integrated drop-down sun visor that has an anti-fog and anti-scratch coating for optimum vision at all times.

Styling

Although this is a flip-front helmet, HJC has styled this aggressively for enhanced aerodynamics. As this is is a new model for 2021, there are only a few colourways available but the Taly design is available in a choice of colours that will suit most colour schemes.

Comfort

The interior is fully removable and is SuperCool, which is moisture-wicking and odour-free with advanced silver antibacterial fabric. A glasses groove accommodates glasses and sunglasses wearers. The Advanced Polycarbonate Composite Shell is lightweight to combat neck fatigue. The C91 is Smart HJC ready to accept 10B or 20B Bluetooth systems (sold separately) for constant connection with the world - if you want! It also comes with a 99% UV-A & B protected clear visor that is anti-fog lens prepared along with an integrated drop-down sun visor that has an anti-fog and anti-scratch coating to battle sun glare. The button to activate the flip-mechanism is ultra-smooth and easy to use and the ventilation system can be fully personalised to your own comfort specifications.

Practicality

The fact that this is a flip-front helmet is in itself a very practical feature. The 3-year manufacturer's warranty is another. The interior is moisture-wicking and odour-free to keep your temperature regulated and is fully removable for easy cleaning. The glasses groove is a welcome addition for any glasses-wearers or just for sunglasses. The drop-down sun visor is a very welcome addition to keep the sun out of your eyes, plus the visor is pre-prepared for an anti-fog lens (not supplied)

HJC C91 Taly Blue

Negatives

The recesses in the lining aren't the greatest for intercoms other than the Smart HJC kit. The internal visor system is at the top so it can be a bit fiddly to operate on the move - but this does get easier! It also does not come with a Pinlock but the visor is Pinlock ready. The shell is Polycarbonate so is strong and safe but obviously is not as lightweight as carbon fibre shells - but you're looking at a lot of extra money for a helmet wth that construction.

Verdict

A good helmet with some good improvements from the extremely popular HJC IS-MAX 2 helmet. You get a lot for your £150 or £130 for the plain colours. Definitely worth a look at!
