HJC F70 Motorcycle Helmet
The HJC F70 is a relatively new full-face model from HJC. It comes in a range of designs and colours and has been a good seller online and in our 30 stores nationwide, but let's look at what it has to offer and any downsides it may have,
Safety
The HJC F70 full-face motorcycle helmet is designed to be both affordable and premium – usually, these are mutually exclusive. Made from a lightweight fibreglass composite shell, the HJC F70 features an aerodynamic advanced CAD shape with an enlarged eye port for more excellent vision and awareness out on the bike. Helmets at this price point are usually Polycarbonate - it is rare to get a fibreglass shell for this price. The F70 offers optimum vision and comes with a clear HJ-32 Pinlock ready visor and Pinlock insert with 95% UV protection. HJC's ACS Advanced Channelling Ventilation System with front-to-back airflow channels, scoop top intake vent and rear exhaust exit vents help pull heat from the interior. Chin bar vents push air across the visor to help eliminate fogging for better vision. The HJ-V9 drop down internal sun visor is more significant for more coverage to prevent glare in the sun. The double D-ring closure system is ultra-secure, and, of course, the F70 is ECER2205 approved, and ACU Gold approved.
Comfort
The removable and washable MultiCoolT interior uses advanced anti-bacterial fabric with superior wicking and fast-drying and fully removable and washable emergency quick-release cheek pads. The F70 also comes with a breath deflector. The shell, while not ultra-lightweight, is lightweight enough to be comfortable and prevent neck fatigue, while the aggressive styling promotes aerodynamics. In addition, HJC's ACS Advanced Channelling Ventilation System is fully adjustable and can be personalised to your preferences for any climate and promotes extensive air circulation for a truly comfortable ride.
Practicality
A breath deflector and chin curtain are included, and the F70 has integrated speaker pockets for easy intercom fitment; this design is SMART HJC 10B or 20B Bluetooth communicator ready. It also features HJC's patented One-Touch sun shield mechanism that deploys and retracts the sun visor quickly and easily. The Pinlock insert is included. The vision of the F70 is fantastic - the broader and longer aperture, and therefore visor, gives a much greater peripheral vision and allows you to see more - always a benefit for a biker.
Styling
The HJC F70 is available in a wide choice of designs and in plain colours , which is impressive considering this model's new. HJC are good at options; they always offer a wide range of colours and designs to suit almost any biker's colour palette needs! The F70 is no different, with a wide range of colours available to everyone's taste. The actual helmet shell itself looks sporty and aggressive but not too aggressive, so it is suitable for touring and sports riding. The extensive ventilation system fits nicely with all colourways and does not distract or detract from the design. HJC has been successful in keeping the helmet practical without forsaking the design.
Negatives
The visor is not quick-release. Not a huge problem, but still not ideal. Also, because the visor is so large, the internal sun visor has also been made larger to accommodate this - however, it may not be long enough because it can still let a little light in - again, not a huge problem, and this may be something that HJC had to combat as you don't want the sun visor digging into people's cheeks! The only other problem is that this has one shell size - so the 2XL and the XS have the same size shell - which could add a bit of bulk and weight to the more petite headed wearers. It is a lightweight shell with excellent aerodynamics thanks to the sophisticated design, but this could be a problem to some.
Verdict
The HJC F70 is a fantastic buy for the money. A helmet of this price point is not normally fibreglass. It has lots of great features, and because we are so great, we even have some on offer for you! What could be better?
Until next time, stay safe,
Alex
