The Look
The RST R-18 CE Textile motorcycle jacket is a short jacket with an edgy fashionable sports profile styling. This also comes in five different colourways, Black, Black and White, Black and Red, Black and Blue and Black and Fluorescent Yellow. The R-18 has a simple, sleek design with dashes of colour in the multi-coloured options and subtle RST branding throughout.

Safety
CE Level A approved, the R-18 comes with CE shoulder and elbow armour for fantastic protection and is made from highly durable Maxtex and Ballistic fabric for abrasion resistance.

Comfort
As this is a short jacket, it does have the advantage of being ultra lightweight which is extremely comfortable on the bike as this means no bulk and gives ease of movement. The adjustable waist and adjustable sleeves give the perfect fit to any form. A non-removable thin quilted liner adds to the comfort of this jacket along with soft material at the collar and cuffs. Zips at the cuffs and hook and loop fastening mean your gloves fit easily, the way you want, without gaining wind and water ingress. The SinAqua waterproof membrane also keeps you 100% dry - which most bikers would agree is a win on the bike in the battle to keeping you comfortable!

Practicality
Obviously the main practical feature of the RST R-18 CE motorcycle jacket is the SinAqua waterproof, breathable membrane. The 360-degree connection zip means this can be attached to any RST pants. This has 3 inner pockets for storage as well as a pocket for a back protector. The rear of the R-18 CE is a little longer than the front to prevent wind chill in the riding position and subtle reflective detailing gives added night visibility for riding in the dark. Another factor in this jacket is that it has now been reduced to £84.99 - fantastic for a biker starting out or for a spare, sporty jacket.

Negatives
Even though the R-18 CE has a non-removable quilted lining this is more of a wind barrier as this is not thermal - so whilst you can wear layers underneath, this is not toastie warm in colder weather. Another negative is that this is a short jacket - fantastic if thats what you like, but short jackets are not for everyone. Taller people can find that a shorter jacket doesn't even go to their waist, so we would definitely recommend trying this on. The R-18 CE jacket also doesn't come with a back protector. It does have a pocket for a back protector, or a lot of people prefer the strap on back protectors - but if you're looking for a jacket with one included then this is not the jacket for you!
The Outcome
For the price, this is a fantastic starter jacket or spare jacket. It is waterproof and stylish with adjustments for a great fit but it doesn't offer all the whistles and bells that other pricier jackets offer. However, you would be paying more for those and at £84.99 you are getting a big brand name and a great jacket in a choice of colours!
