Staff Bike Love Stories
Hello and welcome to Alex's Blog. I am releasing this a day early this week to coincide with Valentines day. I know how much Valentines day means to bikers, its a big deal...........how much you love your bikes.....so to celebrate this here are a few Valentines stories from a few of our staff members about their love for their motorbikes:
Mark at our Maidstone store:
"Bike - Honda CB650f 2015 (as seen in its normal environment - the garage) I bought it new in 2015, did my usual of bolting on as many bits as I can but stopping after the full Yoshiumura system........ I was also in the process of buying and furnishing a house so this became hard to justify. Previously I was used to Sports 600's and 1000's but went a bit smaller and to a Honda as I hated to admit it but it would be more reliable plus the build quality would be better. It's got a great mix of power, helped by the system and a K+N filter, throttle response is crisp and precise, it could do with some stickier tyres but for a bike that makes some noise, handles well and gives a average of 45-50 mpg...... while paying a mortgage its perfect! It's also become a great advert for what we sell - Yoshimura exhausts, R+G racing, Pazzo levers - and we supply ASV, Eazi Grip tank pads, Ventureshield, K+N and Baglux for funky seat covers. In all it fits the budget, does all I want it to and didn't break the bank!"
Tony from our Maidstone store:
"My current bike is a Honda VFR 1200 CrossTourer DCT (Highlander) As you can see, my bike gets “used” – somewhere around 10,000/12,000 miles a year. I buy new every 4 years as too many miles on the clock really plummets the value. I have added a few bits to the bike such as Acropovic exhaust and RG radiator grill, covers and hugger. I can't get crash bungs as they are not available for the DCT. All bought through J&S Maidstone. My last 2 bikes were VFR 1200 F (Sports Tourer) and before those was a string of VFR800's ( I just love the growl of the V4 engines) but I am getting old and they are a bit of a lump for all the things I do on 2 wheels in the head down and ar3e up position (for an oldie). I ride escort with the National Escort Group and M-Mec escorting cycle riders on Road Races and Sportives when they are raising money for national charities. I am also currently Deputy Chief Observer for a local IAM Group."
Kurt at our Plymouth store:
"This is me on my first gen full power Hayabusa.. This is my dream bike. I have done a lot of work along with my brother. It has Akrapovic Headers, Scorpion end can,TRE unit, power commander, air box mod and filter, we've bypassed and blanked the ‘pair' system, heavy duty Kevlar street racer clutch, super heavy duty clutch springs and reinforced clutch slave mod. This also has a 5 inch stretched swing arm. It has done 54000 miles but that does not phase me. I love this beast! I go to "Run what you brung" drag racing events when I can, and really use this bike for what its made for! The kit I use is quality Frank Thomas Qualifier GP leather jacket and jeans (two piece mix and match). It fits so well, and is really comfy for days out on the road and on the drag strip. I have lots of kit but this leather range by Frank Thomas Is perfect for me! #firstlove"
Aberdeen store:
"Bike: 2010 Honda CBF 600 naked. Favourite piece of kit: Oxford heated grips. The motorcycle I ride is a 2010 Honda CBF 600 naked. I've just recently progressed from a 125 to a big boys bike but with an A2 license. I've still yet to get ready for the season but have some modifications such as Scotoiler kit, Puig gold levers and Oxford Heated Grips because I'm not a big fan of cold hands. I will be throwing a new exhaust on her at some point as it always helps to be heard! Since we don't get much sun up here in Scotland she's being used as a commuting tractor to and from work at the moment. I've still to take my bike on a decent date yet so here's hoping the sun makes an appearance at some point in the next wee while but here's a picture of her. Pardon the mess as its an everyday bike."
Ricki from our Aberdeen store:
"Bike: 2009 Kawasaki ZX10R Ninja. Favourite piece of kit: Shoei NXR Brigand. The motorcycle I ride is a 2009 Kawasaki ZX10R Ninja. I've always been more into high torque naked bikes, but 7 months ago I decided to throw caution to the wind and go for my dream bike. I traded in my 2006 Z1000 and purchased this amazing diamond white ZX10R. Since then I've added HEL braided brake lines and a Delkevic tail pipe for that unmistakeable high-revving Kawasaki superbike sound! It's quite capable of commuting me back and forth to work every day, as well as providing an exhilarating thrill on the back roads and twisties. Later this year, I'm hoping to take it to the Knockhill race circuit and do some track days with it! Here is a rather dashing photo of me and the bike on our first date sporting my BKS Fury jacket at the top of the Cairn O' Mount – a very popular mountain pass biking route in North East Scotland."
Craig from our Preston store:
"My Bike Is a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan Custom, I've had it chopped and bobbed and it's dirty because it's used and doesn't live in a garage"
Mitchel from our Preston Store:
"Mine is a 2016 Sinnis Cafe, its my first bike and I'm really taking to it"
