Staff Helmets & Boots
Hello and welcome to Alex's Blog. This week at J&S HQ the #JSGBBO competition is in full swing! We have received lots of great entries and are really impressed by loads of your bikes so keep them coming! Remember this is running until September 6th so you still have plenty of time to enter!
This week Garry Neal, the manager from our Birmingham store, has written another review for us. This time on his boots. You can read his last review here. Garry is a biker himself and wears the kit he sells day in, day out, so we thought some reviews on kit from long-term users and real-life bikers would be not only interesting you, but may be useful in deciding what kit to buy. This time he is reviewing his boots and helmet.
For this I shall hand over to Garry:
"As you know last time I spoke about my FTW350 jacket by Frank Thomas which I wear whilst using my motorcycle to commute to work almost 30 miles everyday.Working for J&S Accessories, I'm spoilt for choice with so many top brands of motorcycle boots in every style from budget prices right through to the most expensive brands. After spending almost a week trying to work out what suited my needs mostI ended up with two pairs of boots to chose from. Both are J&S boots, the J&S Hydro Tour Boots and the J&S Aqua Tour Boots, being completely honest I ended up with the J&S Aqua Tour Boots (and at only 49.99!! a bargain price) The reason I chose this boot was that I have quite large calf muscles, so with this boot being a slightly shorter boot this felt the most comfortable.""I have owned this pair of boots for almost four years now! In all that time I have never got wet feet which I am very happy about. I have only ever wiped them clean using a damp cloth, (no need for any treatment with any products) The soles have worn well and are still a very comfy fit. I have changed the insoles in this time(Forcefield inserts available in store)and this added to their comfort."
"Now to the helmet. As we all know, motorcycle helmets offer many different functions from flip-front to open face, and many now are available with tinted visors built in. Once again, with my job, I am spoilt for choice. Having previously owned an Arai Chaser, should I go for this again or go for another brand? As my previous helmet had been such a good helmet over the years and I trusted this brand I decided to start at Arai. I started looking through the whole range from the RX7 through to the Axces. This was actually my preferred model as it was extremely comfortable. I chose black as this suits the colour of all my kit. I find that Arai helmets for me are the most comfortable helmets available plus the visor removal system is still one of, if not the, quickest on the market. I have a Pinlock anti-fog insert fitted, which is great through the winter months the only other product I use is Nikwax Visor proof which helps rain bead off the visor quickly. This is all I need."
"The best advice I feel I can give about boots and helmets is to call into any one of our J&S Stores nationwide and take your time finding what meets your needs. Ask our fully trained staff any questions and we will make sure you find what you need. My next blog will be regarding Red Route Aramid Denim motorcycle jeans, and IXS Gloves."
Now back to me (Alex) as it is my blog! Thanks to Garry for the review. Now linking beautifully with Garry's review of boots and helmets.....we are now taking pre-orders for the brand new Marvel helmets from HJC.
These are so brand-spanking new that they are not even available yet. These should be coming in to our stores around November. You can reserve your HJC IS-17 Iron Man Helmet or the HJC FG-ST Punisher Helmet here.
Until next time, stay safe!
