Motorcycle Helmet Sizing Guide

In very basic terms, to find out the helmet size you need, measure around your head, in centimetres, just above your eyebrows as in the diagram below and then use the chart for your helmet size.

If you are in between sizes, go for the smaller size, as the helmet's lining will give a little over time. A helmet needs to fit well - not too tight but definitely not too loose otherwise, your head will buffet around inside in the event of an accident. Snug is the best term to describe how a helmet should fit. Here is a basic general breakdown of helmet sizes (not subject to brand):

On the subject of brands, AGV , in some of their top-spec models, release an MS size and an ML size. They do this to give a more accurate fitting in the most popular size bracket. MS is 57 CMs, and ML is 58 CMs.

Schuberth helmets also have a little different sizing system:

Carrying on the subject of brands, all heads are different shapes, so even though technically a helmet fit you, and it will fit, it may feel uncomfortable compared to another brand. Usually, if you own a specific helmet from one brand already, another helmet from that brand should fit the same.

It would be impossible in this blog to describe in detail the fit of each brand for each head as everyone is different. If you're uncertain, we recommend going into one of our stores nationwide and have a good try-on. Our experienced staff will give you advice, check the fit and help you choose the best helmet for you, your head and your budget.

Remember that all the information here is a guide – just a guide! The general sizing guide is just that - general - most helmets do apply to this guide but not all.

Every helmet bought online can be exchanged. If you have any questions, big or small (excuse the pun), you can go in-store - all our staff offer a substantial amount of knowledge and experience - or contact us online , where the same applies!

Until next time, stay safe,

Alex
