Bell Broozer Cranium Motorcycle Helmet

Safety

The Bell Broozer helmet is a modular helmet with a proper, removable chin bar designed to offer absolute protection. It can then be converted into an open face helmet for those who like the wind on their face. ECE approved with a P rating for the protective chin guard and a J for open face - safe in both incarnations (although safer in the full-face mode). It features a thermoplastic shell from LG/PC/ABS with a dual-density EPS liner - proven protection. In addition, a drop-down sun visor prevents sun glare for better road safety.

Styling

The great thing about the Bell Broozer helmet is that it is so versatile, not just in the functions but in looks. An aggressive streetfighter style helmet in full-face mode yet a retro-styled touring helmet in open face mode. The Cranium graphics offer a retro feel with a matt finish. The Broozer looks excellent with the chin bar and without (yet it still manages to incorporate the graphics differently). The graphics are subtle and stylish yet still make an impact.

Comfort

It offers three shell sizes for less head rattling and better aerodynamics, and less bulk and weight for smaller heads. The removable liner is washable to keep you fresh and comfortable. The chin bar is fully removable - with ease - and the Broozer is just as comfortable as a full-face as it is an open-face. A complete ventilation system - with exhausts - allows for superior air circulation that is fully personalisable.

Practicality

Is there a more practical helmet than one that changes from a full-face helmet to an open-face helmet? The switch from one to the other is simple, quick and effective with zero fuss. A micro-ratchet closure system is secure, easy to use, and fully adjustable. With a clear and dark-tinted visor in the box, the visor isn't fixed and can be raised or lowered as you'd wish. Bell's Nutrafog II anti-fog coating keeps it clear.

Negatives

It is made from Thermoplastic. That isn't necessarily a negative, as it is lightweight and ECE approved - but it is not as light or as revered as other shells such as AIM and carbon fibre. Being a modular helmet, it is not the quietest, and you could experience some buffeting at high speeds in the open position - but this is no different to other open-face helmets at high speeds. The Broozer also doesn't feature any speaker recesses, but it is straightforward to fit them as the cheek pads leave space.

Verdict

A genuinely versatile motorcycle helmet in both looks and use with a very satisfying price tag. Available online and in our 30 stores nationwide .

Until next time, stay safe,

Alex
