HJC RPHA 70 Carbon Motorcycle Helmet

Safety

The HJC RPHA 70 Carbon motorbike helmet range uses much of the technology and design from HJC's top of the range RPHA 11 race helmet. The RPHA 70 features a carbon shell for an extremely strong superlight helmet. The shape of the shell itself was designed in HJC's wind tunnel to maximise its aerodynamic potential and rear and side spoilers ensure stability at any speed. The double-D ring retention system is suitable for track days and racing due to its superior safety.

Comfort

The RPHA 70 has air channels incorporated into the EPS liner, the vents have a simple slider mechanism allowing you precise control of the airflow and the top vent has been designed to work in both tucked and upright riding positions. For even more comfort, the helmet's MultiCool anti-bacterial lining wicks moisture away and is removable and washable. By far the most comfortable feature of the RPHA 70 Carbon, however, is the fact that due to the carbon fibre construction it is ultra-lightweight and therefore ultra-comfortable.

Styling

The aerodynamic shaping of the helmet equals an aggressive shell design. A choice of colourways is available in the carbon shell, plus there is a non-carbon version of the RPHA 70 available. It is a full-face helmet with the sun visor mechanism incorporated into the shell subtly while providing optimum function. The Carbon fibre outer shows - it looks good! The plain carbon colourway is just that - plain carbon fibre. The other carbon RPHA 70 colourways offer a wide variety of choices for all riders.

Practicality

The helmet has a detachable anti-fog guard which is highly practical. A height-adjustable internal sun visor is a practical feature that prevents sun glare - it is easy to use while wearing gloves. Another feature is a 'glasses groove' for glasses wearers for superior comfort. This also comes with a 5-year HJC warranty against any possible manufacturing fault or material defect. When it comes to road noise, as a light helmet you could anticipate a compromise, however, the RPHA 70 carbon is exceptionally quiet.

Negatives

Despite the ventilation system being comprehensive and personalisable - there are a few vents that are small and therefore not as effective as they could be if they were bigger - but if they were bigger this would compromise the design, aerodynamics and noise of the RPHA 70 carbon. Another issue is without the removable nose guard the visor can get a little fogged up - with it this is not a problem. If you're not a fan of nose guards then you may want to avoid this.

Verdict

Fantastically lightweight and comfortable - even at high speeds! The sleek aerodynamic shell prevents buffering yet even with the lightweight construction this is still extremely quiet.

Until next time, stay safe
