2022 BSB Round 6 Thruxton

Hi everyone, welcome to another blog and round-up of racing action. Last weekend the racing came from Thruxton. One of the fastest tracking in the UK.

Supersport racing first up, and Harry Truelove qualified in 7th for the first race of the weekend. The first race saw Harry finish in 6th overall, but 5th place in the Supersport class as one of the GP2 bikes actually won the race. The second race of the weekend in the Supersport class was a longer race of 18 laps; Harry came home in 7th overall but 6th in the Supersport standings.

Superstock 1000 now and a packed grid once again for this round, a grid full of 38 riders. All the supported J&S-backed riders with inside the top 20. With two seconds covering the top 24 riders. Tom Ward would start the first race from 20th position with teammate Matt Truelove just ahead in 19th, next up Charlie Nesbitt on the third row in 7th, on the outside of the second row was Joe Francis in 6th, Honda rider Lewis Rollo started from 4th while Billy McConnell would be on the front row in 2nd place.

A red flag was brought out in the first race, so it was restarted and ran over 15 laps. Matt finished outside the points in 23rd place, teammate Tom Ward came home in 19th, and Joe came home in 8th position and well inside the top 10. Next up came a trio of J&S-backed riders, Lewis Rollo in 5th, Billy McConnell in 4th and Charlie Nesbitt standing on the podium for the first time this season by finishing in 3rd place.

The second race of the weekend now, and Matt Truelove came home just outside the points in 18th position, Joe again inside the top 10 with a 10th place finish. Aprilia rider Tom Ward in 8th place, Lewis Rollo finished in 6th, Charlie Nesbitt once again on the podium with another 3rd place while Billy got the better of him this time and finished in 2nd place.

Junior Superstock now and Zak Shelton qualified in 25th place, Osian Jones up in 15th, Jacob Hatch just two places ahead in 13th, while Ed Best would start from the second row in 4th place.

Zak improved and moved up to 18th place by the time the race finished, Osian Jones scored two championship points by coming home in 14th place, Jacob Hatch just ahead in 12th, while Ed Best had his best result of the season with a solid 5th place.

Honda Talen Cup now and Alfie Davidson would start from 27th, Sullivan Mounsey on the outside of row 5 in 15th place, Harrison Crosby started from 7th place.

Alfie finished the first race in 24th and improved from his starting position, Sullivan crept into the top 10 by coming home in 9th, while Harrison finished in 5th.

The second race of the weekend saw Alfie once again finish in 24th, while Sullivan finished in 12th but was only one second away from being in 8th. Harrison again finished in 5th position but was only one second away from finishing in 2nd place. The riders were all tightly packed in little groups, so that’s why the race results were so close.

Junior Supersport again has a tight grid, with the qualifying times being really close in parts of the grid. Oliver Morgan-Edwards started from 21st for the first race of the weekend, with Finn Smart-Weeden starting from 15th place. Oliver had to take a long lap penalty which saw him drop down the field, and he finished in 20th position, while Finn would move up from his starting place to finish in 11th position.

Race two and a much better result for Oliver, who scored the final point by crossing the line in 15th place. In finishing in 15th, he just got the better of Finn, who was right behind in 16th place.

Superbike class and a new team for Luke Mossey as he Moved from the TAG Racing Honda team to the iForce Lloyd & Jones BMW team and would be a teammate to Dan Jones. Qualifying saw Dan start from 22nd, with Leon Jeacock just in front in 21st, Luke had a great start with his new team and would start the first race from 9th position, and Glenn from the front of the second row in 4th.

Luke’s race weekend was over before it even started, really, as he got caught up in a crash in the opening lap of the first race, and it ruled him out of the rest of the weekend. Dan Jones and Leon Jeacock had a close finish to the race, with Dan getting the better of Leon by finishing in 17th with Leon behind in 18th. Glenn was just off the podium in 4th place.

In the second race of the weekend, Leon was one of the riders who suffered from the long lap penalty, which adds around two seconds to the race time. Leon would finish in 21st place, with Dan jones ahead in 19th; meanwhile, Glenn had a solid ride and came home in 6th.

In the third and final race of the weekend, Leon again had a strong race and finished in 19th place. Glenn once again missed out on a podium finish by coming home in 4th place.

Those strong results from Glenn leave him in 5th place and only 27 points behind 3rd place in the championship.

That’s all from me for now, but the riders are back in action this bank holiday weekend at the fan favourite track of Cadwell Park.

So until then, thanks for reading.

Danny
