J&S Supported Rider Results - Round 7 Snetterton
Hi everyone, here is my round-up of this weekends action which came from the Snetterton 300 track.
But first, a bit of housekeeping before we jump into this weekends action, Sullivan Mounsey was racing in the Honda Talent Cup at the latest round of the Moto GP World Championship. He had a great couple of races, with 4th place in the first race and 6th in the weekend's second race. The first race saw Sullivan finish only 0.2 seconds behind the third-placed rider.
Let’s carry on with Sullivan and the Honda Talent Cup, and after a qualifying session that left him down in 15th place, it was a weekend to forget for the young rider with two DNF’s for the whole weekend. So no points scored and a chance to rebuild before the next round.
Junior Supersport saw Christopher Johnson qualify in 34th place, teammate Zak Shelton qualified on the front row in 3rd place, and Osian Jones in the middle of the second row in 5th place.
In the first race, Christopher finished in 24th place, teammate Zak just missed out on a podium with a well earned 4th place finish, and Osian crossed the line in 7th position.
The weekend's second race saw Osian and Zak unable to finish the race, so a DNF each for them, but Christopher came home in 15th place and secured the final points-scoring place.
Junior Superstock and Louis Valleley qualified in 8th place whilst Caolan Irwin was in 13th. A DNF for Louis and Caolan missed out on the final point with a 16th place finish in the only race of the weekend for the Junior Superstock class.
In the Superstock 1000, Lewis Rollo had a tough qualifying session. He started the only race of the weekend in 21st place. Next up was Fraser Rogers in 13th, just behind Luke Mossey, who started from 12th, but Billy McConnell would start the race from the outside of the front row in 3rd place.
All the J&S scored race day on Sunday, and points supported riders. Lewis Rollo made his way up to 11th place, which is great considering where he started from, Luke Mossey finished in 8th place, Fraser Rogers came home in 5th, and once again, Billy McConnell crossed the line to secure the final podium place in 3rd position.#
British Supersport and GP2 saw Rhys Irwin set a time fast enough for 11th on the grid, with Ben Currie in 4th Dan Jones had an eventful session after been taken out by another rider and only just being declared fit to ride; he was down in 22nd place.
The shorter sprint race on Saturday saw Rhys come home in 6th overall. Dan Jones crossed the line in 15th but was the 6th placed GP2 bike. But it was Ben Currie who had a great race and was leading the race at various points, but at the end of the 10 lap race, he came home in 2nd place.
The longer feature race on Sunday saw DNF’s for both Rhys and Dan, but Ben stood on the podium with another 2nd place finish.
Superbike class now, and Joe Francis would start the first race from 17th on the grid, Gino Rea from 7th, but Honda man Glenn Irwin took his second pole position of the season.
In the first race of the weekend, Glenn crashed out whilst leading after tucking the front end early on; Gino didn’t fare any better as he was unsighted by a rider in front of him and collided and crashed out of the race. Joe came home in 15th place and grabbed the final point.
The second race of the weekend saw Joe fail to finish, Glenn couldn’t get the same feeling from his bike after his crash in the first race, and he came home in 14th position. Meanwhile, Gino had a great result and came home in 5th place.
The third and final race saw Joe again fail to finish, Glenn faired a little better and just missed out on a top 10 finish when he crossed the line in 11th, the final race saw Gino go one place better and finish in 4th place and miss out of his first BSB podium. But he and the team are showing great pace and some consistency, so who knows what might happen next time out.
So that’s all from me for now, but not too long to wait until the next round, which is this weekend, 10th-12th September. The action comes from Silverstone and the National circuit layout.
Until next time thanks for reading, and stay safe.
Danny
